Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System
The Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) is an innovative computerised high-tech traffic management system developed and maintained by the Roads and Traffic Authority of New South Wales (RTA). The evolution of SCATS started in the 1970s and is continually being improved by the RTA to manage traffic signal networks around the world.
As of June 2010, SCATS has been distributed to 141 cities in 24 countries worldwide controlling over 32,840 intersections.
