Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System
The Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System (SCATS) is an innovative computerised high-tech traffic management system developed and maintained by the Roads and Traffic Authority of New South Wales (RTA). The evolution of SCATS started in the 1970s and is continually being improved by the RMS to manage traffic signal networks around the world.
As of March 2012, SCATS has been distributed to 260 cities in 26 countries worldwide controlling more than 35,055 intersections.
